Gánh nước đêm
Trần Tuấn Khải
Em bước chân ra,
Con đường xa tít,
Non sông mù mịt,
Bên vai kĩu kịt,
Nặng gánh em trở ra về,
Ngoảnh cổ trông sông rộng trời khuya...
Vì chưng nước cạn, nặng nề em biết kêu ai!
Nghĩ tiếc công cho bà Nữ Oa đội đá vá trời,
Con dã tràng lấp bể biết đời nào xong?
Bước chân khuya thân gái ngại ngùng,
Nước non gánh nặng,
Cái đức ông chồng hay hỡi có hay?
Em trở vai này...!
To Carry the Burden of Water through the Night
Tran Tuan Khai
Beloved … I have crossed the doorstep
The way is before me, long and far.
Mountains and waters (1) lost in mist
On my shoulder the burden grates.
Heavy is the yoke on the way of return
Looking back I see the vast river under the firmament of night,
The water (2) is low … the burden aches … to whom can I cry ?
Now I think of the distress of Lady Oa (3).
She who on her head supported the stones of heaven
And the tiny insect on endless sand, filling the sea :
A tireless task … will it ever be done ?
My steps in the night move forward, hesitant, fearful,
On my shoulders, mountains and waters … Oh, man, brave and honourable !
Tell me, can you feel it ?
It is time now to change shoulders…!
